Ollie and His Superpowers Model

This programme was created by Alison Knowles and is specifically dedicated to helping children manage difficult emotions and empowering them to change them. In Ollie’s world, all of our feelings and emotions are superpowers and they all serve a purpose. By making their superpowers bigger children can make their feelings stronger, and vice versa. Ollie also has a magic library in his mind holding everything he has ever learned in special boxes keeping positive and negative memories in there. Using their superpowers children are empowered to safely look in those boxes and learn how to deal best with the challenging ones.

The Ollie model helps disassociate an issue from a child, which together with the use of child-friendly language about how our mind works and why we feel what we feel helps to engage children in change work. I encourage them to take an active role in working through their issues and finding positive empowerment which will in turn help children to be the best version of themselves that they can be.

This programme is suitable for most neurodivergent children, such with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia etc. I can see the benefits it has on my son.
